about

We only live once, and this track was written as a way to help me move on and heal from loosing both my parents last year. The healing process is going along well, but it is an on going process. I wanted others to know that they were not alone. I have made it this far with lots of prayer and good friendship. I hope this song reaches who it needs to, and helps who it should. This track is also in celebration of 50 years of hip hop and I turned 50 today as well.

Happy Birthday Hip Hop!!
Conscience

lyrics

I woke up this morning with a smile/ and I asking God am I still his child/ and is heaven somewhere far past the distant clouds/ is my imagination running away with me/ Pops was a rolling stone and his temptation is how I came to be/ yeah! A sad story with a happy end/ a screwed face with a tilted grin/ my Mama said real life is not pretend/ and if we you live long enough we all attest for our sins/ and return back where it begin/ yup! Thank God for better days/ when grand pop would pick me up from school/ those conversations shaped me in so many ways/ sipping Cutty Sark over ice spit tales of yesteryears , yesterdays/ over town and O’Jay’s/ a strairway to Heaven I couldn’t fathom when I was eleven/ he was spittin jewels so rare/ tanzanite couldn’t compare/ I wish you were there/ cause this verse could never do it justice/ in the backseat seat of a Duece and a Quarter before it rusted

Chorus

Loosing a loved one leaves an empty void/pain is a byproduct from the memories you can not avoid/ a passive innocence like the stillness of a Polaroid/ it’s the similarities in our experiences that bring us close and makes us humanoids/ the simple things that bring us joy/ like seeing better days/ or watching them piranaha chase Richard Pryor in the toy/ me and my granny couldn’t stop laughing/ her sense of humor was the best/ I reminisce on good times before she was laid rest/ I still feel the hurt deep in my chest/ even though I found real love in my past there is still regrets/ it’s those what if’s and why’s and that dash between when you lived and when you died/ the stairway to Heaven just a metaphor you couldn’t climb it if you tried/ but I can still feel the sun on my skin every day when it rise/and I thank God when I open these eyes/ I still have them better Dayz/ but they changed in so many ways/ life never repeats / it’s your conscience stuck in a loop and just replays
