about

This was the last beat I made for the album, it was also the last lyrics I wrote for the album as well. It took me four months to finish it. I gathered up everything I could remember my mom saying and put it in this song. It took long talks with my sisters and countless hours trying recall things she said. Well this song is what came out of that. Hope this song will help young people understand how valuable those conversations with parents are, and how sometimes just listening to what they have to say can save you time, money, and heartbreak. Thank you Mama!

lyrics

My Mama said always do for yourself trust God/ cause you ain’t living for nobody else/ yeah! Mama said never bit your nose off to spite your face thinking it might give you grace/ never, leave your hat on the bed cause it might bring you bad luck, never trade your soul for a buck/ Mama said keep your head to the sky/ cause we all just want to go heaven when we die/ Mama said treat your lady good/ how would you feel if your sister name got drug through the hood/ Mama said love your kids/ but a hard head make a soar ass/ guess it is what it is man/ my mama said close your mouth and open your ears/ she ain’t really for you/that chick ain’t worth none of your tears/ my mama said let it go/ you so much better than that/ don’t miss a blessings just open the door/ Mama said don’t be stupid son/ an empty wagon makes a lot of noise stand tall and never run/ don’t be a glutton for punishment she said/ I wish I would’ve listen when she was here my Mama Said

(Second Verse)

I didn’t understand sometimes, that a faithful man can undermined his on peace of mind/ we living on borrowed time, we ain’t promised tomorrow/ mama said have faith and don’t drown in your sorrows/ my mama said believe them the first time when they show you who they are/ they hate to see you shine when you’re a star/ my mama said when you see crazy coming cross the street/ and you should never shit where you sleep/ my Mama said leave the past in the past/ and when you through away the garbage don’t go digging in the trash/ my Mama said stop being dumb/ don’t wear your heart on your sleeve/ keep your business to yourself son/ my Mama said they ain’t your friends/ they only here when it’s good, when it’s bad they gone in the wind/ My Mama said keep your dreams in your sight/ you can be what you want to be it could happen over night/ she said believe in yourself/ you can do bad all by lonesome you don’t need nobody’s help/ don’t play a fool for women my mama said/ I’m glade I stop to listen when she was here my Mama said
