about

This was the only song that my mom actually heard off of the album. It was the first single and she loved it. I can hear her now "Alexa!" play "Around My Way". She bragged about this song sharing it with all her friends. She was so proud to say her son made this song.

lyrics

(Intro) See, I wake up every morning man/ I check the news, first think I see is some one dead/ or somebody getting shot or some town burning/ I kind of got sick of it/ so, I thought I’d write a song about it/

(Chorus) I see these things everyday, it’s happening around my/ No, No, No!/ will we ever get sick and tired/ tired of waking up seeing who died/

(Verse)
I’m not woke I’m just a sight seeier/ a visionary in my class not a mind reader/ yeah! I walk the earth and visit many places/ I smiled a lot and rubbed my hands across so many faces/Fo’Sho, life’s ian imitation of past confrontations/ victory is lost and I already lost my patience/ maybe that path and a birth of a new nation/ cross pollination I’m sending sad salutations/ so, get your mind right time is back in the mirror/ the future looks young and bygone is another era/ population is purging/ no economic in splurging/ hate is on the plate/ Jim Crow and its re-insurgents/ I don’t know the truth but I know lying will never make it/ and they will never stop if you just sit back and take it/ we all want to break it/ some only seem to fake it/ it’s all about the money time for some compensation/ yeah!

(Chorus)

(Verse)
Open your eyes and see the world turning/ the new clash of the titans Poseidon is still burning/ we learning equal lust then maduessa turns us to dust/ in a world full of fear no body that we can trust/ I’m still hiding behind the mirror/ the future seems close but it’s far and a little clearer/ the murder rate increased but I just follow you on my Twitter/ blinded by the glitter/ the fruits of my labor seem bitter/ but I’m no quitter/ now where the people at/ holding the Grimm reaper back/ the pressure is the force that divides reverse and circles back/ a rare bread gorilla in the misses a true silver back/ Mighty Joe Young, Rampage on the attack/ in fact I persevere but I’m just slow to react/ every question is a clue from the forward to abstract/ I feel the impact /hold tight keep it intact/ I feel the pain so I just fade into the black/

(Chorus)

(Verse)
Dear lord can you save me from these complications/ teach me to hope, and how to love, and make some room for patients/ spread inspiration through these hard times/ moments of truth may burry you take a hard line/ it’s time to shine/ it’s yours light a fire like the dude from the Doors/ buy a crib down in Jersey take a walk on the shores/ we Moore’s kings and queens Prince Hikim with a dream/ it’s America so everything is not what it seems/ for a dub you get a knee leave you dead at the scene/ 8 shots the back paralyzed in your jeans/ that good trouble will have you murdered face down in the street/ it’s survival of the fittest ain’t no room for the weak/ thats deep say a prayer think of heaven when you sleep/ take a minute choose your words have compassion when you speak/ take the liberty to live cause all happiness is cheap/ cause it ain’t what it is when your cover with white sheets.

(Chorus)

(Kamilah) Like my Daddy said, stop the violence and kick the science.
